Philosophy and purpose
People Water Station is one of our newest project to help some more People to get a job to be able to support a family, as a worker in the Water Treatment and Refilling Station, or by delivering drinking water home.
DOES WATER MEET THE STANDARDS IN THE PHILIPPINES?
How free is our water in the Philippines of contaminants and impurities? While most municipal water systems does not meet the standards set by WHO and the National Government. As a result, waterborne diseases remain a severe public health concern. More than 5’000 people die each year (1 death per hour) due to contaminated drinking water. The lack of safe drinking water also stunts the growth of thousands of children per year.
WATERBORNE DISEASE
is caused by microorganisms which are directly transmitted when contaminated water is consumed. Contaminated fresh water, used in the preparation of food, can be the source of foodborne disease through consumption of the same microorganisms. It was estimated that 88% of that burden is attributable to unsafe water supply, sanitation and hygiene, and is mostly concentrated in children. Waterborne disease can be caused by protozoa, viruses, or bacteria, many of which are intestinal parasites. People who are infected by a waterborne disease are usually confronted with related costs and not seldom with a huge financial burden.
